The following text of the NYC DOC Unit Citation awarded the staff of the Robert N. Davoren Center is taken from the Medal Day 2011 booklet.

ROBERT N. DAVOREN CENTER -

As a result of tireless, hard work and dedication on the part of staff at the R.N.D.C., the facility has become a safer place for everyone members of service, visitors and inmates.

All of the primary indicators used by the Department to measure violence in the jails are on the decline, including use of force incidents and critically at R.N.D.C., inmate- versus-inmate fights.

These reductions in violence have helped to create an environment that is more hospitable for staff as well as for the inmate population. It is due to their strong commitment to provide excellent care, custody, and control to the inmate population and their commitment to work collectively and effectively with each other to advance.the goals of the Department that these achievements have come about.
