The following citation with the Mayor's Award to Correction Officer Reginald Wilson is taken from the Medal Day 2011 booklet.

CORRECTION OFFICER REGINALD WILSON, FIRE SAFETY UNIT

The arresting photo shows a young boy nestled safely inthearmsofamusded man. The look on the man’s. face is one of grave concern and seiiousness, but the boy looks calm,as if he knows - everything will be OK.

That man would be Correction Officer Reginald Wilson — “Reggie” — who carried that boy after aiding him and four others in a rescue after a fire in an apartment building in Mamaroneck, NY.

Wilson is watching out for fire safety on and off the job. A member of the DOC since 1998, Officer Wilson is assigned to the Fire Safety Unit at the DOC. Off the job, he is Chief of the volunteer Mamaroneck Village Emergency Medical Services, which responds to over 1,400 calls for help a year.

He is also a certified NYS Police Instructor, FEMA Instructor, CPR and First Aid Instructor, all of which means he is quite busy teaching classes in the community.

On the job at DOC, he is also responsible for responding to fire and safety-related events and emergendes. He is also a former Marine.
