Presentation

This web excerpts presentation adheres to the chapter and sub-chapter structure of the report, "JAILS FOR THE 80s: Five Year Capital Development Program for Corrections -- Volume I: Policy Statement."

At the bootom of each web page are the printed page numbers from which texts and any images were excerpted.

This excerpts presentation is provided because the 1980 report includes excellent descriptions of DOC facilities at that time as well as the various factors that figured in planning new facilities and additions to, or improvements of existing facilities.

Above is an image of the front cover of "JAILS FOR THE 80s: Five Year Capital Development Program for Corrections -- Volume I: Policy Statement -- A Report to the Mayor by the Department of Correction."

The report consists 160+ pages.

All are one-side only printed and all but five are 8.5x11 with text and images in black ink only.

One is an 8.5x 11 color map of Rikers Island facilities.

The other four are fold-out sheets: three of which are color charts, the fourth being a black ink-only chart.

This excerpts presentation involved digitally scanning pages to extract texts as well as images to use with the texts.
