NYCHS thanks retired Deputy Warden James Larkin,
whose career with NYC DOC spanned 1964 through 1984,
for generously sharing the 5x8-inch black and white photo
from which the above mural image and its 15 click-accessible section enlargements were scanned.
The photo shows the artist's scaffolding (but not the artist) on the far right, an indication that the scene
may have been photographed when the 20x70-foot mural, begun circa 1936, had just been or was about to be completed.
