1936/1944 Jail Rules Booklet
Forerunner to Current Statewide Minimum Standards
The responsibility for providing a county jail adequate for the legal classification of those committed to it rests with the Board of Supervisors; the sheriff is responsible for its administration. So far as the facilities of the jail will permit, it is the duty of the sheriff to see that a classification of inmates is maintained at all times.
