Thanks to the New York Correction History Society and its webmaster for presenting these portions of our book.

These provide an informative overview of the Polly Franklin Hoag Frisch murder trials, with special emphasis on jail and prison aspects.

But the excerpts collectively constitute only an outline of the case that rocked rural "upstate" New York in the 1850s.

We hope you will be intrigued to find out more details as were we after we read a brief passage about it in a book entitled Gazetteer and Biographical Record and Directory of Genesee County New York 1788-1890, by F.W. Beers.

You will find that passage quoted in the Foreward of this NYCHS excerpts presentation.

We hope it will be the beginning of an interesting excursion for you into a bye-gone era in New York history. It was for us.

Regards,

Cindy Amrhein
Ellen Lea Bachorski
