Images below were derived from photos in retired NYC Correction Captain Kenneth Perrone's series of wintery Rikers Island scenes which were photographed the night of Oct. 29, 2011 when an early snowfall ignored the calendar declaring the season was still autumn. Officially autumn begins around Sept. 20 or 21 and winter begins a bit after mid-December. But in 2011 the first significant snowfall came early -- in late October. Ken caught on camera some night scenes of Rikers Island that few have ever seen before in photographic images.
Ken started with NYC DOC 12/8/88 and was assigned to work at EMTC. Promoted to captain 9/1/00, he first served at in that rank at ARDC Oct/00-Apr/01, then the QDC Apr/01-Jun/01, then AMKC Jun/01-Aug/01. Captain Perrone then went to OBCC in August, 2001 and continued to serve until he retired in January 2012. Ken served as the Correction Captains Assciation's elected OBCC Delegate from July 2007 through June 2011.

In response to a summer 2012 request by this site's webmaster, Perrone generously made some photo images from his collection available to the website for it to post in this presentation.

with their guess list of scene IDs. To facilitate providing information about particular scenes, letter ID
tags appear beneath them; for example Photo A. In due course, the webmaster will add his guess list at the bottom of the page. Captain Perrone didn't provide IDs with the images when they first appeared on Facebook. [HINT: In four of the 20 images, the name of the building seen is clearly visible.]
