HIIP
'Boot
Camp'

Under watchful
scrutiny of HIIP
officers, inmates
line up to board
vehicles to a
community
service project
cleaning up
roadsides. Other
inmates clean
the outside of
their domed
dorms. Before
outside work
details, inmates'
first chore each
day is cleaning
inside their dorms.
That includes
making beds
properly. HIIP
officers check
meticulously.
If blankets and
sheets are not
tucked just the
right way, then
inmates will get
an earful about
it, maybe two
earsful. They may
be required to do
push-ups, a drill
believed helpful
for remembering
rules in HIIP
... and after HIIP.
Although they
wear a different
uniform, HIIP
instructors are
still Correction
Officers but
they have had
special training
in boot camp and
inmate counseling.
